The Beastly Top 20 True Crime Podcasts

Happy Halloween, Beastly friends!

I really love a good mystery. It all goes back to my early obsession with Agatha Christie. The eclectic characters. The web of connections that bind them. The shocking crime. The search for answers by some quirky, uber smart investigator. And then the beautiful reveal of the perpetrator, often a sheep in wolf's clothing fooling everyone.

Each mystery solved is a little gift wrapped up with a bow.

I still read mysteries but true crime podcasts are my real addiction. Usually I listen while walking Jack but am also known to cook with them, clean with them, work with them, online shop with them (hint, hint). For me, they are like an audio massage. Strange, I know. Please don't judge.

Anyhoo, on this brisk and windy Halloween evening here in beautiful Michigan, I thought I would share some of my all time favorites. Some you certainly will know but maybe a few will be new to you. I hope you enjoy.

xoxo

Murder Mysteries

What Happened to Talina Zar - Such a good story about a woman who disappeared during the pandemic and the internet sleuths that help find her.

Bear Brook - Several connected cold cases solved by genetic geneology. Fascinating.

Firebug - Finding a serial arsonist in California. Slow but really interesting.

Over My Dead Body: Season 3 Fox Lake - Is there anything worse than a bad cop? I think no.

Wisecrack - There's nothing funny about a comic's scary run-in with a childhood friend.

To Live and Die in LA (2nd Season) - Investigators look for a missing young woman.

Blink - Amazing story about a man with a rare, horrible brain disease and much, much more...

Ransom: Position of Trust - This one is especially upsetting as there is a child victim. A cautionary tale about not knowing the monsters in our midst.

Murdaugh Murder Podcast - I'm sure most have heard about the Murdaughs. I listened to this podcast when everything was happening in real time. Unreal.

Noble - An actually very touching story about a neglected crematorium and the families it touched.

Scams and White Collar Crime

The Con: Kaitlin's Baby - It really is bizarre the things that people will pretend to be to get attention. Buckle up for this ride.

Scamanda - If you somehow missed this story (there's a Hulu series about it), it is not to be missed.

Bad Batch - Fascinating look at the dark side of the stem cell industry by the same woman who did Dr. Death.

The Truth About Sarah - Stolen valor. Fake illnesses. Fabricated resume. You can't make this stuff up! Or I guess you actually can and Sarah did.

Sweet Bobby - Insane catfishing story that became a Netflix series.

WeCrashed - Another ridiculous ego given too much money and no guardrails.

California City - Uncovering how people have lost their life savings investing in the desert.

Fallen Angels - Apparently if you're the dean of a prominent medical school, you can get away with pretty much anything.

The Dream - This is where my obsession with Multi-Level-Marketing (MLM's) began. SUCH a great look at this predatory business model.

Believed - This podcast should be required listening for all parents. Grooming and abuse can happen under our noses. Very upsetting but so important.

We know you're seeing a lot of gift guides these days. Personally, I have read at least 15 this week in my quest to find a few items for my hard-to-shop-for 18-year-old college freshman son. If you are also looking for a present for a teenage boy, this guide will not be very helpful. BUT if you are looking for something to give to those special women in your life that is unique and meaningful, please read on. Happy gifting!

Introducing Our New Peace Silk Square Scarves — The Perfect Gift for Her
Introducing Our New Peace Silk Square Scarves — The Perfect Gift for Her

December 03, 2025

Our New Peace Silk Square Scarves are truly special.

Yes, they are beautiful but they are more than just a pretty piece of fabric. Much more.

Let's start at the beginning with how the raw silk is collected. With regular silk, the silkworm cocoon is boiled with the live worm inside. With the peace silk (also called Ahimsa Silk) that we use, the silkworm is allowed to naturally leave the cocoon as a moth and only then is the silk of the cocoon harvested. The fibres of the discarded cocoon are spun into thread and then woven into cloth.

My excitement about the launch of our new peace silk square scarves is a bit overwhelming. The scarf is where Beastly began as it was the first product we produced and sold back in 2015. Since then, we have added many new pieces from skirts and dresses to aprons and weekender totes. To get back to scarves, such a timeless and essential accessory, feels appropriate and just right as we round 10 years in business.

This product might be new but the beautiful, slow creation process certainly is not...
